Bengal Panchayat polls: ‘Why delay in complying with court orders,’ HC asks EC

The Calcutta High Court, listening to a contempt plea towards the WB State Election Commission, ordered the fee to submit an affidavit by June 27, clarifying whether or not there was any willful delay in complying with the courtroom’s orders.

The case can be heard on June 28.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Calcutta High Court instructed the West Bengal State Election Commission (SEC) to request the deployment of Central Forces inside a span of 24 hours for the upcoming panchayat elections.
